Cold Squad is a Canadian police procedural series set in Vancouver,
BC that ran for seven seasons from 1998 to 2005. It followed the
investigations of Sgt. Ali McCormick (Julie Stewart) and the rest of her
titular Cold Squad, a division of the Vancouver PD Homicide Department
tasked with investigating old unsolved cases.
In seasons 1 and 2 McCormick is teamed up with Det. Tony Logozzo
(Michael Hogan), a grizzled old-time cop nearing retirement who was the
only one \'down in the basement\' working the cold cases alone before
McCormick is transferred in to work with him.
After the events that wrap up season 2 the Squad gets promoted and
expanded into a Province-wide task force in season 3, which was the
in-show excuse for the major shakeup in cast, crew, sets, everything.
McCormick now finds herself forced to share command of the squad
with Sgt. Frank Coscarella (Stephen McHattie), a partnership that gets off
to a rocky start to say the least. The trend towards longer multi-episode
story arcs slowly built up alongside the regular case of the week that
was played with a bit towards the end of both seasons 1 and 2 is used
to strong effect throughout most of season 3.
McHattie abruptly left the cast after season 4, which led to yet another
new partner for McCormick, Sgt. Len Harper (Matthew Bennett). Slick,
cerebral, Harper would remain in the cast from season 5 through to
