I've been starved of my Tuesday evening fix of decent tunes for TWO
WHOLE WEEKS (phone line down and PC sick)before Simon's show earlier
this evening. And it's been a hell of a week. This is what I needed; a
sonic fix of the pure stuff, undiluted, uncut. It should be bottled and
sold as a Universal Tonic. Now there's an idea.....play these tunes
over the supermarket tannoy system and observe the fallout. It would
add a whole new dimension to shopping; 303's on max gain and variable
bpm would improve the experience, an event even.
Enough verbal diarrhoea. It's a cliche, but you must know what this
show is about by now, the score is known. One hour of unreleased tunes
and exclusives (of course), and the following hour full of tunes
selected by the truly crazed individuals to be found in the chatroom.
As I write the reviews, I get to pick out the highlights...so the
forthcoming Deathmachine release on Rebel Scum (SCUM022) is a solid
tune which continues the high quality of sonic hardcore breakbeat
tunes that the label is rightly known for. The previously unheard track
by Mystification ("Computers?") on a new label, Manticore, is as
awesome as their previous tune 'Crack up'. Devastating hard as nails
d8b stuff; awesome. From the latter half of the show, there was a
really wild acid track by Liza Eliaz under another name; don't know
what it was and I intend to find out real soon! It was a good 10 years
old which just goes to show that a proper tune doesn't age badly. And
then we got towards the finale of the show which properly kicked off
with the Neophyte classic, "Braincracking" (ROTSP2). I requested this
because it's fab. Proper Gabba. Dynamite on a dancefloor, I reckon.
This was followed by a rare scratch mix by the man himself on the show;
the first I've heard on the show for a good while. Simon picked the
tunes; they were great. It was proper exciting. And I have no
recollection of what was played. Actually, that's not correct; Da
Suicide Squad was in the house - brill.

Marvellous. Glad to be back.

Tuesdays is the best day of the week, official. We now have Cyno
banging out FIST tunes before Simon rules the airwaves and the rumour
is that Pinhead will be taking on the slot after Simon. Life doesn't
get much better than this.
