Because I have limited bandwidth I encode in RMVB. Quality is the same as a 175 mb .avi file!
YOU DON'T NEED REALPLAYER!
These files can be played back on most any Media Player. Just make sure RealMediaAlt codec (free) is installed. codec available http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Real_Alternative.htm
MediaPlayerClassic, Winamp, BS, WMP and pretty much everything will playback real media.
For people who want to burn to CD or convert to xvid divx player there are a multitude of video converters, as an example Format Factory, http://www.pcfreetime.com/ is free that will allow you to easily convert RMVB to Xvid, DiVX, mp4,3gp etc.
It was brought to my attention that these files were not playing on VLC. This is not a file problem! You need to get the latest version. I tested on .9.9 and 1.0 and files all play fine. VLC used to not support Real Video. The new versions play with no problems.
