A series of 6 telemovies produced to celebrate Australia's Bicentennary (1788 - 1988), one set in each Australian state. The films are adventures featuring mystery, comedy, pathos and fantasy which encourage viewers to explore issues such as growing up, being different, resolving conflict and fears, seeking identity and working out values - an entertaining and thought-provoking series.
On her 14th birthday, Kate feels that her life is quite perfect, until she discovers that she is adopted. Kate becomes obsessed with finding the identity of her real parents. She eventually meets her mother and her step-siblings, who know nothing of Kate's existence. In her quest, however, Kate has been oblivious to her adoptive parent's worries. Their concerns make her realise how important they are to her.
Features debut performances by Justine Clarke and Rebekah Elmaloglou. Both of whom have gone on to distinguished careers in film and television.
This is the only surviving episode of this TV series.
