The world is having a pretty hard time trying to categorise this brand new production from our much loved friends, Moonbeam... and to honest, so am I.
In fact, I often have trouble trying to definitively place Moonbeam productions because they so skillfully combine elements and techniques from the fields of Progressive House, Tech House, Miminal Techno and Progressive Trance... and on top of all of that, they manage to incorprate or work around extremely well suited and engineered vocals in their productions / remixes, that never fail to please.
Beatport has this production categorised as Trance, which is simply not the case. Yes, ok.. it's on the Songbird label, which is a sub-label of Black Hole Recordings; this is the label that pumps out all the Tiesto "In Search Of Sunrise" volumes. But that, combined with the use of Progressive Trance elements and techniques doesn't make this a Trance production.
Junodownload has categorised this as a Progressive House production.. and generally speaking, I have to agree that's where to put it. The thing is... it's overall structure and sequence is Progressive House in style. However, the beat work is a very clever amalgamation of Tech House and Progressive Trance, which is something that we very rarely encounter.
In any case, it's yet another absolutely beautiful production from Moonbeam, and even though I'm quite happy with the J-Soul Remix, I'll be spending all of my time with this Original.
