Give it four and a half stars!, March 13, 2007 Reviewer: El Sanchi (Los Angeles, CA)
As an avid chill fan (especially of the Cafe del Mar series) I love this disc. Very nice. Smooth beats and pleasant melodies. Having said all that, the last track is out of place and probably should have been either dropped or replaced for a better tune.
This is chill in the general usage of the word - as in relaxing/easy going - this is NOT a dance chill CD. There are some tracks that have some beats but it's very minimalist and it's not really New Age chill though there elements of that.
It's pleasant, inncuous chill perfect for a corporate function during the summer - it's music that sets everyone at ease but not much more beyond that.
If you prefer to read with music in the background that raises minimal attention, this CD is for you.
Solid through and through, March 28, 2006 Reviewer: Emotional Ear
The advent of internet radio has afforded many the wealth of genres in which to pick and choose. As with any unfettered mediums, standards are few and far between, making understanding of such genres obfuscated. The "Lounge" genre for me has always been a visceral experience; predicating on one subjective point -- the power to enervate.
A lot of the compilations out there are a hodgepodge of heavy and light tunes; with "Dubai Chill Lounge Vol. 2", it was consummate in every way. Simply put, there isn't a track on this entire set one can find any fault with. Set your player on loop and brace yourself for the cosmic journey of your life. "L'amour" by Cafe Americaine is a particular favourite of mine. What ever persuasion you may have in wanting to listen to Lounge music, I think this cd is transcendent. Surely a delightful primer into the genre, if you ask me.
