Dancemixcollection - PROPAGANDA

Welcome to my dancemix-torrent No. 20

What's this?
This dancemix is in general a kind of greatest-hits-compilation in a special way. Burned in a proper way to an Audio-CD you will have a continous flow of music, without gaps interrupting it. Most of the tracks are not complete in this way, it's faded in and out often after half of the original track. For this, every original track was speeded up or down a little bit at overlapping points or in general for matching the drumbeats. The special technique used to do this prevents the audience from really realizing the speeding.

I promised some more for you. And here it is: I had to celebrate my 20th mix now, so it should be something very special I give to you. There is a small story behind this one, pls. read it while you are downloading. It was at the time when I created the older 80s mixes for the club last year, especially Human League when somebody came up to the stage and asked me to play some PROPAGANDA. PROPAGANDA? I was really surprised because this german band was for sure not a so-called "megaband" in that days. Looking back, they had unfortunately only 4 or 5 great hits. But during their time, they had so huge success and I am sure everybody will remember their songs.

Ok, what to say about PROPAGANDA? First: PROPAGANDA was not a band designed by the music industry, in that early mid-80s that was not the rule like nowadays. In 1982 Ralf Dörper created a band named PROPAGANDA after leaving DIE KRUPPS. A trio was formed then together with Andreas Thein and Susanne Freytag. Later then Michael Mertens and Claudia Brücken joined the band. Fortunally (or unfortunally), the english record-label ZTT took them under contract and together with Trevor Horn they made excessive use in elctronic synthesizers and sampling machines, they discovered new technics and technologies in recording and arrangement. They were really pioneers. The marketing supported their look and style very much, so the whole thing had very fast an avantgardistic look, also supported by their new style in making videos. It was new, it was fresh, it was different. And yes, it was avantgardistic. Their single DR. MABUSE was a huge success, Andreas Thein left the band after that. The next singles DUEL and P-MACHINERY stormed the charts too. Their following album A SECRET WISH is a real classic in our days, it's a rare gem in synthmusic. Characteristic thing are the dominating beating synths with a strong melody, mixed with the undercool vampirelike-voices of Claudia and Susanne. But unfortunally this album already selled not as good as ZTT wanted. Then a remix-album WISHFUL THINKING followed in the end of 1985. There was nothing new on it, just new interpretations of songs from A SECRET WISH. But it was a wonderful gift for the lovers of their music and the DJs! Then the things really went wrong, followed by a long law-fight between the band and ZTT, Claudia Brücken left the band and released a soloalbum in 1990. The band itself tried with a new album called "1234" to connect to the old success, but time ran out for PROPAGANDA in 1990 already. Their music style changed on "1234" completely, so this album is somehow "disconnected" and disliked. I remember, I listened to it once in the past, it was a really different thing, I personally disliked it too.
Founder Ralf Dörper left the band during the recordings of "1234" and had a short project with Andreas Thein then again (RIFIFI). Later then Ralf reunited "DIE KRUPPS", they had much success in the 90s in Europe and America. In 2004 PROPAGANDA tried a comeback, but this was commercially without success too. In November 2004 they joined on stage again at Wembley to honor producer Trevor Horn for his work in life. In 2006 PROPAGANDA released 4 new tracks, again without Ralf Dörper and Claudia Brücken. And until today their is the rumour, that the band will reunite in the classic lineup with a new monsteralbum. So we are waiting...

To get the loop back to the guy on stage asking me for this. My first idea was: Great! I forgot about that wonderful band! But how to do a dancemix with only one album? Impossible! Impossible? Not really, but have a look to the tracklist. 18 songs, this is for sure not a typical dancemix like all the others I made previously. It's really something special worth celebrating the number 20 of my mixes. It has more the character of a chained Remix-Album. I tried to "compose a PROPAGANDA-sinfony", so the whole album consists of the main tracks of A SECRET WISH connected with the original mixes from WISHFUL THINKING. In truth, the album contains 5 or 6 main tracks, enveloped in mix-versions. So you will hear megamaxi-versions of their favourite hits on that album, sometimes it is a little bit hidden and interrupted, sometimes it is very clear. Best example for this is the super-mix of DR.MABUSE (the connected tracks 15,16 and 17) with a length of nearly 15 minutes, this was never done before! It is a little bit hard to explain the whole thing in english for me, just download and listen.
When listen to it for the first time, it will get eventually some skipping by you. But believe me, more and more this will grow in your ears and finally you will extremely like it. It simply may need some time. I think I created with this something really special, it's one of the best mixes I did so far, from the point of my personal taste. This got a spin yesterday at our club, it was really unbelievable for me what happened. I've never seen so many "old" people dancing continously for an hour and longer. Happy faces, happy people. I reached the goal this time for sure I think. But decide by yourself.
From technically point of view, I did some very special things this time. The whole CD got an "upspeeding" to 103% and some tricky stereo-base enhancements. I also tested some new stereofilters and effect-gimmicks on this mix. Because of this:

** I HARDLY RECOMMEND EARPHONES WHEN LISTENING TO THIS SPECIAL MIX, I PUZZLED SOME REALLY NICE STEREOEFFECTS INTO IT! **

Pls. enjoy listening and if you like it, grab your copy of the original albums from your recorddealer. It is my wish to show some "uninfected" people some really great bands from the 80s. If you like it, pls. support them with buying their music. This is only a special taster, I invested a lot of work into it, but the main base was the product of others. Keep this in mind if you are downloading this. Thats the way how it works. Finally pls. don't forget to search for their videos on YouTube, it is really worth watching!

Burning Insructions:
It is very important to follow this short instructions for creating your copy in a way it is satisfying you. For
sure you can listen to the downloaded MP3 on CD or play it directly from harddisc, but this will driving
you eventually nuts because of the gapping and it is not the way it works and I made it for you.
All MP3-files are chained together and encoded with 192 kBit-Bitrate. This should be enough for reconverting to audio-CD
or wav-format.
So pls. open a new audio-CD-project within your burning software. Import the MP3-files in the right order. If
your burning software is not able to reconvert MP3 for creating an audio-CD automatically, you have to convert
all the files back to wav-format first and then import the files.
Second really important step is eliminating all the trackgaps by setting it to a value of zero. Pls. consult
the handbook of your burning software if you don't know how to do this. If the total running time of the disc in
your project is a little bit below 80 minutes, then you made it.
Then burn the project in so called DAO-Mode (Disc At Once) to a 80-minute-disc.

Why in this way with MP3?
Because it its the fastest way for me to give you this. All other formats are exotic or just need more space and are wasting more bandwith. A cue/bin-version would make sense only of I would put up the complete disc uncompressed. I've choosen MP3 because not everybody is owning a highspeed-dataline these days.

Why this not in a lossless format?
Because its quality is ok for this dancemix. If you download this, you have to own the original albums
of the band and there you have the lossless version of the tracks. This here is for experimenting and having some
fun with the music of a wonderful band.

Hope you enjoy it and you have some fun with it. More dancemixes will follow. Why not give my other mixes a try if not already done? Search here on Mininova for:

If you like what you got, please SHARE IT WITH OTHERS AND DONT LEAVE THIS TORRENT TO EARLY AFTER LEECHING. Creating a mix like this is sometimes not as easy as it looks and I am not able to give all of my torrents a continous seed.

Thanks for reading, and pls. do me a favour: Pls. put some more comments to it. Do you like it?
