This music by acclaimed musician, Chinmaya Dunster, blends sacred sounds from the Buddhist lands of the East with acoustic instruments from around the world: the sarod and santoor from India, and the harp, flute and guitar from the Celtic regions. Melodious and easily accesible, the music aims to evoke the inner Feng Shui – known to Buddhists as the Eightfold path – the essence of which brings transformation to our inner world. Personnel includes: Chinmaya Dunster (guitar, sarod, harp, keyboards, bass, percussion); Sambodhi Prem (guitar); Alistair Cooper (dulcimer, frame drum); Don Lax (violin); Shastro, John Zagando (flute); Kevin O'Kennedy (pennywhistle). The design elements of Feng Shui, which are said to relieve blocked energies and bring good fortune, take on a musical life here. As he has on other albums geared for healing, Chinmaya Dunster has created a broadly Eastern flavor with the use of his beloved sarod (a 19-stringed classical Indian instrument), flutes, acoustic guitar, and percussion. These pieces achieve what they set out to do, enveloping the listener in tones that are upbeat, optimistic, benign, and peaceful. ~cduniverse.com

1. Right Mindfulness
Color: Blue
Image: Mountain
Corresponding: Meditation/Inner Knowledge
Element: Earth
Direction: North-East/The near left corney of a room as seen from the doorway
Quality: Stillness

The music describes a mountain peak, solitary and silent: symbol of that is really THERE, of a new viewpoint from which to observe everything that is.

«Always remain silent, watchful. You should always remain present. Not a single thing should be done in a sleepy state of mind.»
— OSHO

Excellent for Meditation, January 19, 2005 By Swing King (Cincinnati, OH USA)
This cd is a total delight musically, the tracks are carefully selected and thematic. When I sit on the zafu for home practice of zazen, I will sometimes pop this in as a way of blocking out noises in the other areas of my home. It's unassuming and vastly relaxing, helping to form a sense of spaciousness as you sit. If you listen to music of this caliber consistently, you almost certainly will begin to notice a real change in your attitude toward life. Not that meditation is really about comfortable feelings (much more about life as it is, things just as they are). But this is life "as it is" in one of it's more enjoyable phases.

I also listen to this while I'm at work on the computer, and it's during these times I reminiscence of childhood emotion; it's somewhat hard to put into words what I mean by that, for it's not public (my experience). But the point is that this music is evocatively emotional and poignant, and it will be sure to move anyone who is in earshot of it`s authority. I can't imagine anyone not enjoying music such as this, it's basically food for our bodies and mind. It is as though a liquid bliss has passed through your pores and enveloped your very being, helping to goad you toward a clarity in life. Music of this scope is really uncommon, although I hope all beings will be fortunate enough to encounter it!

This one is a no-brainer, so go for it.

Nice background music for Yoga, October 19, 2004 By Ashwini Aragam (Worcester, PA)
Chinmaya Dunster's music has been a favorite of mine for my Yoga classes. Check out Yoga on Sacred grounds, for example. Feng Shui starts with Rigth Mindfulness - a poignant piece of music that conveys the picture of steadiness as of a series of mountains in the sight of a viewer. Somehow, this track reminds me of the past; as we go through the postures I think back or brood a bit. Rigth Views reminds you of the springtime or freshness as the insert describes. The pace, as with the first track, is ideal for most of the asanas. The next track Right Livelihood opens with a somewhat distracting chant and is supposedly of the wind. This track is great as one proceeds deeper into the asana session. Right Samadhi has a beautiful accompaniment of the bamboo flute, but you may not want to practice Shavasan during this track. Right Morality is about receptivity; it also has an air of freshness to it as it starts. The guitar and violin compete equally for your attention. The Right Effort starts with a native chant and reminds you of nature with the melodious penny whistle and flute bringing life to the tune. Right speech brings the message of connectedness, rhythm and melody; once again parts of it make you reflect. Right Intention, like Right Views, opens with a fresh native song. The flute is spring-like and most beautiful here. Wow, nice background music for a Yoga class. I will look for more Chinmaya Dunster music for my Yoga classes.

By the way, outside of a Yoga class the music is great to relax and reflect. Nice, nice, nice...

Hauntingly Beautiful, October 11, 2001 By Lorna Goodman "healing seeker" (Utah United States)
I first heard this CD in my T'ai Chi class, and the music just stayed with me. Particularly beautiful is the first song, "Right Mindfulness." It invokes high mist-covered mountains covered in greenery. The peaceful melodies don't leave the mind easily, and help the listener relax and tune inward. It is flowing and smooth, and hauntingly beautiful. Highly recommended for any exercise that requires gentle movement. For me it is "moving meditation."

Bernie, February 3, 2001 By bernard e bratton (severna park, maryland United States)
GREAT MUSIC FOR BACKGROUND DINER MUSIC OR RELAXATION. I USE THIS CD FOR RELAXATION AFTER I TEACH A YOGA CLASS. I AM A YOGA INSTRUCTOR AND ESPECIALLY LIKE #3,#6 AND #7 FOR RELAXATION FOR 5 TO 10 MINUTES AFTER THE CLASS IS COMPLETED. THOSE 5 TO 10 MINUTES CAN BE THE BEST MINUTES OF YOUR DAY.

Feng Shui The Eight Fold Path, February 18, 2006 By J. Larsen (Encinitas , California)
This Cd is by far the best I have heard in my life. It is a must have. Every song is awesome. My favorite is #3 Right Livelihood. This is his best Cd by far. Love God, Live happy , Feng Shui yourself and your house.
