Born in Vienna of italian descent, Christian Joseph (Cristiano Giuseppe) Lidarti went to Italy in 1751 and never returned to Austria, settling in Pisa where he lived and worked until his death in 1795.
Nice early classical music, extremely brilliant, extroverted and technically demanding in the violin concertos, while an interesting contrast is given by the string quartet (also included in the CD), of a charmingly serene, even melancholic, character. Another example of how many today virtually unknown musicians wrote good music in the early classical period.
