Faking It is a documentary series made by RDF Media for Channel 4. Part makeover, part challenge, and part fly-on-the-wall show, each programme follows a volunteer from one walk of life who lives and trains with an expert from a completely different field. After a four-week crash course in their mentor's area of expertise, the volunteer is put to the test by competing against genuine practitioners. Judges (who in most cases aren't initially aware that there is a faker in the line-up) are asked to pick a winner, and then pick out the fake. There is no particular prize for success - the fakers do it just for the experience. And to entertain us, of course.

Episode 1: Burger Flipper to Chef (Nov/06/2001)

A burger vendor by trade, Ed's a happy-go-lucky guy who keeps his customers smiling with his natural charm. But all that is about to change. In just four weeks time, Ed must convince a panel of expert judges he is a genuine head chef.

Episode 2: Sheep-shearer to Hairdresser (Nov/13/2001)

Gavin, is a 22 year old sheephearder. In just four weeks time, Gavin will have to convince four eminent figures from the hairdressing industry he is truly one of them.

Episode 3: Ballet Dancer to Wrestler (Nov/20/2001)

Kasper Cornish is a mild-mannered, talented ballet dancer from London. Yet, in one of the most audacious programs, in just one month, he must transform himself into a bona fide, nasty, bad-boy wrestler.

Episode 4: Showgirl to Showjumper (Nov/27/2001)

Shelley, a nightclub dancer from south London, has never sat on a horse. Yet, in just four weeks, she will have to re-invent herself as a show jumper, and do it convincingly enough to fool a panel of three keen-eyed judges.

Episode 5: Nightclub dancer Shelley learns to fake it as a showjumper under the tutelage of Tim Stockdale and Marianne Trevor-Roper.
