Throughout the world, access to safe drinking water is the most critical element of sustained good health yet safe drinking water is today still lacking for almost half of the world's population. Clean Water focuses on the highly successful efforts of one humanitarian organization, East Meets West, to bring safe drinking water to rural communities in Vietnam.
With the collaboration of local villagers, water towers are built and trenches are dug, bringing clean water to 300 homes in one of the Vietnamese villages that was repeatedly bombed by U.S. planes during the war. East Meets West staff member Richard Brogdon, a former Vietnam war veteran, meets face-to-face with a former Viet Cong fighter. Despite the initial tensions, old political differences begin to disssolve as safe, clean drinking water is brought to the local Vietnamese community through the help of this American project.
