Roland Tchakounte starts his career in Cameroon after recordind two vinyl albums in the Douala Studios.
He settles in France in 1990 and, after the release of his cd Bred Bouh Shuga Blues in 1999, he undertakes a tour in France (Blues sur Seine, Cahors Blues Festival etc.) Then in Germany, Belgium, Sweden and Eastern Europe which enables him to perform in festivals, in a complete group, or in clubs, on his own or in a duo with his faithful slide man, Mickael Ravessat.
In England and in Japan, in 2004., he benefits from multiple encounters and musical experiences.
In the United States, in 2005, Roland Tchakounte is the first French artist to be invited to the prestigous Chicago Blues Festival.
Roland Tchakounte plays music which is halfway between African and western sounds.
He starts from primitive blues and evolves towards blues rock, and even towards sounds that can be described as alectro world blues.
