Distant Transmissions - Ambient Reflections on Bach
Musictrade release MT002
Released July 26, 2005
LAME HVBR mp3 encoding, hi-res cover artwork included.
This is the first neoclassical ambient album by the Finnish ambient producer Doc and the Russian pianist Lena Selyanina, containing three electro-ambient reflections on J.S. Bach's music. The fruitful co-operation that began with this album has produced already five ambient albums inspired by classical works. Besides Bach, Doc and Lena have worked so far on material by Maurice Ravel, Claude Debussy and Dmitri Shostakovich.
The music on the album is deep, beatless ambient, ranging from dark to bright in tones. Its general atmosphere is relaxed, making it suitable for relaxation, meditation, deep listening, audio voyages and creative visualization. The original works that inspired and provided tonal material for these tracks are: Invention No. 2 in C Minor, BWV 773 and Sinfonia No. 2 in C Minor, BWV 788 (Andromeda Calling), Prelude No.1 In C Major, BWV 870 (Carrier Waves) and "Ich ruf zu dir, Herr Jesu Christ", BWV 639 (Ich Rufe). Especially the sensitive "Ich Rufe" has touched the hearts of many listeners and remains even today one of Doc and Lena's most listened songs.
