Inhalt
1968. Amerikanische Truppen bahnen sich ihren Weg durch den Dschungel von C Chi in Vietnam. Der Dschungel ist mit Fallen gespickt. Scharfschützen tauchen aus dem Nichts auf und verschwinden ebenso schnell wieder. Der Schlüssel zur vietnamesischen Strategie ist ein gewaltiges Netzwerk von Tunneln, welches sich unter dem Dschungel erstreckt. Als eine Gruppe neuer Rekruten in einem abgelegenen Camp eintrifft, erfahren sie bald, dass ihre Mission kein Routineeinsatz ist. Ein Tunnelzugang wurde entdeckt und sie müssen in die engen Röhren, um den Feind zu bekämpfen. Die Vietnamesen verteidigen sich einfallsreich und erweisen sich gegenüber der überlegenen Technologie der Amerikaner als sehr effektiv. Beide Seiten führen bis zum Ende des Films ihren verbissenen Kampf fort und machen so die Natur von Krieg deutlich: Niemand gewinnt in einem Krieg. Verloren hat doch am Schluss jeder, der in einen Krieg involviert wird.
