In a quiet japanese town the two local gangs have established a uneasy peace which, unfortunately, leads to even further exploitation of the townsfolk and nearby farmers. The peace is short lived however since three parties, each unknowing of the others\' presence, are converging on the town:
A Ronin (Tadanobu Asano) of extraordinary swordskill seeking work as a Yojimbo to support his ailing wife (Yui Natsukawa). Two beautiful Geishas (Daigorô Tachibana & Yuuko Daike) with weapons in hand and revenge on their minds. And finally a blind masseur (Takeshi Kitano) who is not as weak and helpless as he appears at first glance.
The Ronin\'s employment to one of the local gangs upsets the delicate balance of power, but that is only the first impact the strangers have upon the town.
The unraveling story and the characters\' past offer an ample supply of both tragedy and humor (although where the three minute dance scene should be placed I have no idea). But there is also a decent amount of swordplay and an abundance of bloodshed and severed body parts.
