With so many bands these days getting caught in the sticky web of trendy indie and abstract sounds, it's comforting to hear a band
who hasn't abandoned what was once a fundamental element of music- the melody.
To hear a band whose melodies are actually one of its strong points is even more exciting.
You won't find any harsh barking of lyrics from Skye Harbour. Nothing is thrust in your face in tuneless vulgarity.
Instead, rich layers of sound start at your toes and tickle their way up your body from all angles like a Swedish massage chair, leaving you
elated rather than irritated.
In 2007 Skye Harbour made the pilgrimage from Adelaide to Melbourne.
In 2008 they released their debut EP Houses, winning themselves not
only a solid fan-base but also the 2008 MTV Kickstart Award.
The recent transition from a five piece to a four piece resulted in the band losing two testicles and left fans asking, 'will eight testicles really be enough?'
The answer is a resounding 'yes mate.'
Their sound is just as potent and their catchy tunes never fail to dominate a room.
The reduction has also given them more room to move musically and has allowed them to merge their individual influences with originality and cohesion.
Skye Harbour feel like INXS, taste like Toto, smell like Queen, look like your favourite Baldwin, and sound like Maroon 5's adaptation of War of the Worlds.

Skye Harbour share the philosophies of great bands like Queen, The Beatles and Nirvana;
creating music that is progressive and challenging, while appreciating the fundamentals of pop.
The EP was written over the course of 2007.
Skye Harbour had just moved from Adelaide to Melbourne to take a serious shot at success, and the songs reflect that determination to stand out.
