[B]Synopsis

Fear that your love may not be reciprocated, fear that you may lose the one you love, fear that your beloved could have a change of heart. In short, fear is the villain in every love story.

But in 'Darr' fear is the ultimate expression of passion, of obsession and of sacrifice. 'Darr' is Rahul's (Shahrukh Khan) story whose love and obsession for Kiran (Juhi Chawla) frees him from all fears of life & death. 'Darr' is Sunil's (Sunny Deol) story, whose enduring love and passion for Kiran gives him the courage to face the fear of death.

And finally 'Darr' is Kiran's story who is caught between one man's love and another man's obsession. She fears one & fears for the other. One stands for love, the other for life. In this battle between love & life, the supreme victor is love, because love always wins, in life & death.

In the end, Rahul attempts to kill Sunil. In the end Sunil kills Rahul aboard the boat. Kiran And Sunil Lived Happley After

Trivia

* Sunny Deol was given a choice by Yash Chopra of either the role of Sunil Malhotra or the role of Rahul Mehra. Deol chose to play Malhotra, believing that this character would be more popular, but instead, the opposite occurred. Thus it was Shahrukh Khan who gained more from this movie.

* This is Shah Rukh Khan's second movie as a villain.

* In the movie, Rahul (Shah Rukh Khan) says that he is 5 foot 10 inches. In real life, Shah Rukh Khan is actually 5 foot 8 inches.

* There were two distributors for this movie, the first was Eros International Ltd., and the second was Yash Raj Films.

* Director Yash Chopra initially wanted Ajay Devgan to play the role of Rahul, but Devgan was at that time shooting another movie in Ooty and never got back to him. Then Aamir Khan was offered the role, but turned it down because he was not happy the way Chopra described the story line different to Sunny and him. Shahrukh Khan finally accepted the role, and thus began a long association between Khan himself and Yash Raj Films.

* During "Tu Mere Saamne," Kiran wears an outfit similar to what Sridevi wore in Chandni (1989), in which Juhi Chawla had a cameo role.

* The idea for the film germinated when Aditya Chopra and Uday Chopra, Yash Chopra's sons, saw Dead Calm (1989).

* The last film with music by Shiv Kumar Sharma and Hariprasad Chaurasia. Afterwards, the duo Shiv-Hari split up.

Awards

The film received three nominations at the Filmfare Awards for Best Director, Best Villain and Best Comedian but ultimately won one - Best Villain (Shah Rukh Khan). The film also won a National Film Award
