The Kingpin (Wilson Fisk) is a fictional character, a Marvel Comics villain who
has battled many Marvel crime-fighters, most often The Punisher, Spider-Man, and
Daredevil. Created by writer Stan Lee and artist John Romita, Sr. Wilson Fisk is
a criminal mastermind who was involved in extensive illegal activities such as
drug running, smuggling, murder, and so forth. Despite this, he had (until recently,
see below) no criminal record and an army of lawyers to keep it that way, and is a
criminal financial strategist without parallel.
Okay, so we could file this one in Not-Quite-Off-The-Presses, but we didn't want to
miss the chance to bring you some of the upcoming excitement in Marvel's new on-going
Detailing the life of Daredevil's and Spider-Man's implacable foe, Wilson Fisk, the
idea here is something akin to Godfather II meets the Marvel Universe. By taking a look
at who he is and how he came to be, Kingpin is a crime book set in a superhero universe.
Originally intended as a mini-series, It's written by Bruce Jones (Incredible Hulk)
and illustrated by Sean Phillips (Scene of the Crime) and Klaus Janson (Punisher, Daredevil),
so you know it's already screaming, "Read me!"
