The mind-crushing plague that is 24-hour TV shopping is an obvious target for satirical swipes, but what elevates this new sitcom to the premium range is not the rather laboured gags about the ludicrous products on sale but the superbly written characters that inhabit this shopping channel from hell. Like the ghastly tat they sell, they all border on being unbelievable, while projecting a camp allure that makes them simultaneously irresistible. Eamonn Holmes appears as himself for the opening episode and manages to shine in a cast of professional comics by playing "the Holmes" as a gun-toting, utterly immoral spiv. This is a smart comedy package and one that you genuinely can't afford to miss.
