This torrent provides the file pak0.pk3 from the slightly outdated PC video
game Quake 3 Arena.

Nowadays, Quake 3 Arena is free except for one file needed by it: pak0.pk3.
To install Quake 3 Arena, first download ioquake3. ioquake3 is free software
and is available at http://ioquake3.org/ . Once you have ioquake3 installed,
place the file pak0.pk3 into ioquake3\'s baseq3 directory. This is all that is
needed to install Quake 3 Arena. However, note that without a valid CD key
you will not be able to connect to some servers. Most servers nowadays do not
require a CD key. Also, you will not have the option to enable Punkbuster
if you use ioquake3, so you will have to find servers that have Punkbuster
disabled.

pak0.pk3 can also be used to run older mods that depend on Quake 3 Arena.
For example, versions 1.27 and 2.6a of Urban Terror can be run. Check
http://forums.urbanterror.net/ under General Urban Terror Discussion to
find links for early Urban Terror downloads and information pertaining to
which game servers to play on (there are very few servers that run these
old mods). Once you have an early version of Urban Terror installed, place
the file pak0.pk3 into the installation\'s baseq3 directory.

True Combat is another old mod for Quake 3 Arena. There may be a revival
for this mod at some point as well.
