Torrent description

The Brady Bunch Movie (1995) [XViD avi]
Plot Synopsis by Don Kaye:
The Brady Bunch Movie pays tribute to the 1970s TV show while poking gentle fun at it. The Brady family, led by father Mike (Gary Cole), still live in their suburban, split-level home and are still throwbacks to the era that spawned them. Eternally perky wife Carol (Shelley Long) is the perfect homemaker, while the kids' behavior is as wholesome as their loud, time-warp pastel clothes. Meanwhile, the greedy, selfish modern era swirls dangerously around them, embodied in next-door neighbor and real estate agent Ditmeyer (Michael McKean), who wants to buy the Bradys' property and turn the neighborhood into a giant mall. But no amount of money or prodding can persuade the Bradys to give up their home. Director Betty Thomas contrasts the overlit sitcom look of the Brady house interiors (faithfully recreated from the series) with real locations and natural grit for the modern L.A. scenes. The result is a satire that deftly spoofs the idea of staying true to old-fashioned values without ever passing judgment on those values. [www.allmovie.com]

Review by Robert Firsching:
What might have been yet another disastrous big-screen sitcom revival (like the awful Beverly Hillbillies movie) works wonderfully in this clever comedy. The reason it works is the ingenious notion of taking the sickeningly wholesome Brady clan and plopping them -- unchanged -- into the 1990s. It's mostly a one-joke movie, the one joke being the family's utter cluelessness when presented with such developments as carjacking and lesbian seduction, but fans of the TV series will also be delighted at canny re-creations of some favorite scenes and cameos by some of the original cast members. Lighthearted and entertaining, though a bit racy for the kiddies, this twisted nostalgia piece is a lot of fun. Particularly noteworthy is the production design, which faithfully re-creates the look and loud but strangely washed-out colors of the show. [www.allmovie.com]

A Very Brady Sequel (1996) [XViD avi]
Plot Synopsis by Clarke Fountain:
Like its lively predecessor, The Brady Bunch Movie (1995), this mild comic send-up takes its characters and situations from the popular family sitcom of the 1970s, The Brady Bunch. Set in the '90s, it is filled with in-joke references to American pop culture. However, one need not be familiar with the original series in order to enjoy this film. Bad guy Trevor Thomas (Tim Matheson) is posing as supermom Carol Brady's long-dead first husband Roy Martin. He claims to have been amnesiac and made unrecognizable by plastic surgery after suffering disfiguring injuries, but in truth, he is on the hunt for a very valuable artifact, an ancient Chinese horse carving which Roy sent to his family from the field. Because of the family's sheer niceness, they could never imagine such deception, and husband Mike Brady (Gary Cole) welcomes him into their midst. This causes Roy no end of frustration, as not only must he live with this incredibly sweet and cheerful family while he searches for the carving, but he must endure having his ill-tempered sarcastic jibes go completely unrecognized. When Carol (Shelley Long) is kidnapped, the whole family goes a-hunting. [www.allmovie.com]

Review by Karl Williams:
This sequel to a hit comedy spoof of the vacuous '70s television series has even more sly, naughty fun with its basic time warp concept than its predecessor, probably because the first film's box-office success unshackled the filmmakers from adherence to their source material's superficially family friendly tone. By fully embracing the satirical possibilities of the Bradys' anachronistic foolishness, director Arlene Sanford provides some welcome zingers that take aim at everything from teen sexuality to that other show created by ham-and-cheese server Sherwood Schwartz, Gilligan's Island. Gary Cole and Shelley Long are as gifted at mimicking their iconic roles as previously, while Christine Taylor again steps nimbly to center stage as the self-involved Marcia. The appearance of RuPaul as a high school guidance counselor is a stupid, one-note throwaway bit that proves this follow-up isn't without its share of deserved stinkers among its more effective gags. Overall, however, A Very Brady Sequel (1996) is a laudable second act that's funny enough to earn a subsequent chapter in the franchise. [www.allmovie.com]
