Moonsorrow are a folk/pagan metal band formed in Helsinki, Finland in 1995. They are known for their extremely long songs, and for their epic, organic composition. The band call their sound "Epic heathen metal" and try to distance themselves from the term "Viking metal" as much as possible, as the vast majority of their lyrics do not concern Vikings. Their lyrics are heavily based on Finnish and Scandinavian traditions, legends and poetry, even though since Tämä Ikuinen Talvi they have been written exclusively written in Finnish. A good example is the song Sankaritarina from the Voimasta Ja Kunniasta album, which features lyrics directly translated from Hávamál.

Viides Luku - Hävitetty (Chapter Five - Ravaged) is the fifth full-length album by Finnish folk metal band Moonsorrow. It was released on January 10, 2007 through Spinefarm Records. As a joke by the band, the name "Homosika" (gay pig) was released as the working title for "Viides Luku - Hävitetty".

Hävitetty follows up on the sound established on Moonsorrow's previous studio album, Verisäkeet. The album consists of only two songs, each exceeding 25 minutes in length, and act as organic compositions with recurring musical themes which are gradually built upon up to climaxes. While the folk instruments and choirs of prior albums are still present, Hävitetty has a more prominent black metal influence; for example it features tremolo picking and blast beats. As on Verisäkeet, the album features a very thick, dense audio mix, and often features upwards of ten instrument and vocal tracks at once.

Track listing

1. "Jäästä Syntynyt/Varjojen Virta" (Born of Ice/Stream of Shadows) (Henri Sorvali, Marko Tervonen, Ville Sorvali) – 30:10
2. "Tuleen Ajettu Maa" (A Land Driven Into the Fire) (Henri Sorvali, Marko Tervonen, Thomas Vaananen, Ville Sorvali) – 26:19

Tulimyrsky (Firestorm) is the first EP of the Finnish folk metal band Moonsorrow. Initially scheduled for release on March 26, 2008 through Spinefarm Records,[1] the release date was postponed until April 30 to allow for proper promotion. Over an hour in length, the release contains one new song, two covers and two re-recorded tracks from the band's early demos. It was stated that this release is categorized as an EP so that it will not be interpreted as the band's new album.

The title track is divided into nine "chapters" in the lyric sheet, which do not always correspond with the sequence of progression between musical themes. The remake of "Taistelu Pohjolasta" does not incorporate the opening section of the original piece (which appeared on Tämä Ikuinen Talvi); thus, the only movements incorporated are "Punaisen Lumen Valtakunta" and "Jäisten Järvien Kimalteessa." The remake of "Hvergelmir," however, does include the coda "Elivagar (Pakanavedet)," accompanied by a spoken monologue in Finnish that does not appear in the original.

Track listing

1. "Tulimyrsky" – 29:45
2. "For Whom the Bell Tolls" (Metallica cover) – 7:43
3. "Taistelu Pohjolasta" – 8:11
4. "Hvergelmir" – 9:30
5. "Back to North" (Merciless cover) – 13:08

Tracks #3 and #4 originally appeared on Tämä Ikuinen Talvi and Metsä respectively.
