Journalist and child prodigy Cameron Crowe (whose own autobiographical story is told in the movie "Almost Famous") went back to high school at 22. He pretended to be a high school student and wrote a book about the kids he saw around him. Hollywood bought the rights to the book, and made the movie. The story follows a group of various teen types; most notably being Jennifer Jason Leigh as a shy would-be vixen, Judge Reinhold her brother, Phoebe Cates as her sexual guru and Sean Penn as the class stoner. Watching the film nowadays is still enjoyable thanks mainly to Cameron Crowe's scathing screenplay and Clueless director Amy Heckerling's (in her directorial debut) energetic direction. Also featuring Robert Romanus, and Brian Backer in larger roles, but be on the lookout for small roles and brief appearances from Nicolas Cage, Forest Whitaker, Eric Stoltz, and Anthony Edwards as well.
Starring: Jennifer Jason Leigh, Judge Reinhold, Phoebe Cates, Sean Penn, Robert Romanus, Brian Backer.
