Released to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the Macross phenomenon, the Macross Plus Remaster Box promises to be the best version available for fans of the classic anime. This 4-DVD set includes the original four-episode OAV on Discs 1 and 2, the re-edited feature length Macross Plus movie on Disc 3, and finally a fourth disc of extras, including the full-motion video sequences from the long unavailable PSX Macross Plus game. A high-definition remaster has been used for the video transfer, while the audio is being presented in full PCM audio. The set also includes a 24-page booklet and premium packaging, and will be available for sale for only one year. On August 24th, 2008, the Macross Plus Remaster Box will be pulled from distribution, making it a truly limited DVD edition. Originally released in 1994, Macross Plus was considered the pinnacle of the Japanese animation art form at that time, featuring an innovative mix of traditional cel and CG animation. In addition, the series represented an amazing convergence of talent, including original Macross creator Kawamori Shoji, Cowboy Bebop creator Watanabe Shinichiro, and famed composer Kanno Yoko. Taking place 30 years after the classic Macross television series, Macross Plus details the rivalry between two dueling test pilots, fiery Isamu and half-alien Guld. The two once were friends, but have grown apart largely due to a woman, Myung, who serves as producer for the galaxy's hottest pop idol, a holographic AI creation named Sharon Apple. Isamu and Guld are testing two advanced transformable fighters to see which will serve as the successor to the original VF-11 variable fighter. However, when Sharon Apple hijacks the X9, an unmanned AI fighter, and puts Myung's life in danger, both Isamu and Guld must put their differences aside to save their old friend.
