As par the course in the recording industry, once a recording contract reaches its conclusion then some sort of compilation is usually released. So, is the case for the Canadian legends, 'Rush' and their Atlantic Records contract. The difference, however, is that for a mighty band like 'Rush' with so many great albums and songs, a further retrospective or look back at the last 20 years of output is due, and certainly wanted. Hence, the, as yet to be released on January 27, 2009 release of, 'From Rabbits To Snakes, Retrospective III - The Best Of The Atlantic Years' on 2 eloquently packaged CDs is right on time, and very necessary to chronicle the lives of our favourite Canucks! Here you have 35 songs from the albums: 'Presto' (1989); 'Roll The Bones' (1991); 'Counterparts' (1993); 'Test For Echo' (1996); 'Vapor Trails' (2002); & 'Snakes & Arrows' (2007); and, the E.P. 'Feedback' (2004), as well as a couple of live cuts from 'Rush In Rio' (2003); 'Snakes & Arrows - Live' (2008), and their most recent release, also from 2008 on the 'Songs For Tibet' sampler / tribute disc. Either way you look at it, this compilation should do its job by introducing potential fans to the recordings of the last 20 years, reacquaint long-time fans with records they may have missed, and possibly become the pearl of great price missing from the most avid 'Rush' or Rock Music collector's treasured personal archives.
