An American oil company sends a man to Scotland to buy up an entire village where they want to build a refinery. He discovers and idyllic town inhabited by clued-up locals, a drunken Russian and the Northern Lights. It isn't going to be quite as simple as the oil company thinks...
Won BAFTA Film Award.
Film critic Roger Ebert gives the film a positive review, commenting, "Here is a small film to treasure, a loving, funny, understated portrait of a small Scottish town and its encounter with a giant oil company...And what could have been a standard plot about conglomerates and ecology, etc., turns instead into a wicked study of human nature."
There's some English subtitles in here in case you are hard of hearing. They're optional at playback time so you don't have to have them i.e. they're in a separate file so be sure to load them with your favourite avi player if you do need them.
