This is a brand new conversion form a widescreen DVD we just received in the mail from Columbia House as part of a shipment headed to the local library for our regular donations campaign to ensure better public access to cultural treasures for members that reside in our communities. We used DivX author for the best possible picture quality from the conversion settings. Perfect video at 640 X 480 and nice enough audio too in both English or French audio tracks (user selectable on your divX disc player or DivX computer software player too). The Godfather series is still a money maker for the industry that has merit over many garbage offerings instead so we don't begrudge them their dough, they've dropped the price reasonably enough so many can better afford to own the DVD with all the special feeling and features that gets you in a more tangible offering too in respect of gift wrapping and what have you.
The men portrayed in such movies are not ordinary men. They are men of great idealism caught up in a life that involves crime as rackets such as prostitution, gambling and at one time even liquor peddling, all of which may consider should be a matter of individual choice and therefore need not be driven underground.
The men of Italy are men of great idealism as I say, they care for their families like none other and are strong and protective in this respect.
That said, the violence all this brings is something that no community needs.
same goes for a loss of respect for laws that becomes generalized as people become desinsitized based on a perception that fairness and real judiciousness is too often absent in the rules that we make. And men that operate in a cultural space that has such stratification and synergism based on connections of old, often are forced into professions where they feel they lack other choices and do not see themselves in a position as antisocial types that wish to bring down the societies they live in en masse in the ways of perpetrating a breakdown eventually of law and order.
The character of Michael Rizzo, The Godfather to be, (Al Pacino) speaks of going completely legitimate in time with the affairs of his family's business. This must be made possible so that good men of his caliber are not left to a life involving the risks to society on the whole and to men like him and his family for whom he does indeed care.
Only English subtitles were found on the disc I'm afraid to say, however both languages are there for you in nice enough quality not to complain, its something you could share gladly with everyone you know, without bankrupting the industry just yet as that could hardly be our intent. We just want them to live within the means of a responsible industry and that they have not been for any time in their history, although they did once put out much more quality than the current egaletarian nonsense in a misuse of the franchise they hold only as stewards subject to censure and to correction by public intervention of whatever means left to us ultimately. Case in pint: The "sound of music" is
still an industry ripoff at thirty bucks that kids can ill afford and "The last days of Disco" and "White mischief" were simply trashed rather than put into the public domain formally until I chose to do so myself as with "The remains of the day" recently in fact! so you see, its an industry that lacks a heart. Lets do the right thing by all, until these folks have better sense of what we are about as a society that has some sense of moral values that lead to indignation and the sort of changes that is going to bring about in the rules of the game in due course, of this I am certain as we are already making clear by our responsible actions here.
