The Panda anti-virus program is a great option for most of the users out there. I began with the install process and was pleased to find it incredibly simple. Everything was done in almost no time at all and the default settings were just as I would have set them myself, which is pretty great. If you’re not all that familiar with anti-virus software you can feel comfortable with Panda. You won’t have to adjust anything; just install and you’re protected.
Panda’s anti-virus suite comes with protection from viruses (obviously) and spyware. Spyware is nasty stuff and though it won’t destroy your computer like a virus it has the potential to make it run considerably slower. The more programs you have installed the slower your PC is going to run, obviously. Spyware is really just loading your computer down with endless amounts of crap so you want to keep it off if you can. Panda helps to do that, although it doesn’t do it as well as some others. A few slipped through while I was browsing sites that typically dump spyware programs onto your machine.
Panda has a fantastic anti-phishing technology. If you’re not familiar with phishing just think of the emails you get from the Nigerian bankers looking to have you keep track of their money and asking for your personal information in return. There are dozens of scams just like that and that’s called phishing. You obviously want to avoid giving your credit card or social security to anyone like that and Panda will tell you which are the obvious scams because they keep track of that. Now you can bank and shop online without having to worry about your personal information.
Panda updates the anti-virus database once a day at least; you can set it to update far more often if you want the absolute latest protection. You can go hourly if you’re really, really interested in keeping safe. Even if you don’t update all that often they have a special technology built into the program that detects abnormal programs trying to run on your machine that could be viruses. If it detects one you can update your database to see if it’s a real threat or just delete it to be safe.
Technical support at Panda is always free so you’ll be able to get the information you need with ease. The site does not have a number for technical support but you can always call the customer support number for assistance and then pass along the information. You can also email them if you’re not in desperate need of help. The price is the best part of Panda. They charge $49.95 for coverage for three PCs, which is far better than most... not that it matters for any of you downloading this lol.
