The All Golds will play a New Zealand Maori side in an exhibition match as a testimonial for Kiwis Rugby League stalwart Ruben Wiki.
The All Golds were set to play in New Zealand for the first time since 1908 when the modern-day All Golds play New Zealand Maori at Yarrow Stadium in New Plymouth on Sunday, October 12.
The encounter follows a commemorative match between the All Golds and the Northern Union in Warrington last October, which marked the 100th anniversary of the landmark tour of the United Kingdom by the original All Golds in 1907-08.
Albert Henry Baskerville recruited a group of players for a professional tour of Great Britain. This team toured Australia and then Great Britain in 1907. The team was known colloquially as the All Golds, or Professional All Blacks. The All Golds were involved in the first game of rugby league in New Zealand on June 13, 1908.
New Zealand Rugby League will also use the event to honour Ruben Wiki and to acknowledge the tremendous contribution he has made to the game. League legend Stacey Jones is also set for to the footy field. Jones has been invited to pull on the black jersey one more time for this special game.
