- Release Notes
Sharp Practise has already appeared on TV in Australia and the US. Tracks
from their debut album made the soundtrack of a DVD in Japan and a
compilation album commissioned by Fila sportswear in Italy. The band is now
looking forward to making a big impression with their new album, Radiocity.
We are a rock band that can play with influences from folk to dance yet still
create a sound that is recognised as Sharp Practise and no other band. We’re
fighting a crusade to get well-played, proper songs back into the charts
around the world.
We want to have written as many standards as Neil Finn of Crowded House has –
songs that fix moments in people’s memories. We’d like to be signing loads of
autographs because people have recognised Sharp Practise as being a
hard-working band with honest songs.
We’re trying to put some good playing together with some strong words and
picking up on things from everyday life as if we were peeking into your diary
and singing your life back to you...
We are a classic rock band but not an over the top screaming yelling rock n'
roll monster, this is the sound of a band who like to keep things quiet and
wouldn't say no to an acoustic set, but not tonight: tonight we wanna rock.
And rock we do, through delicacy of touch, unity and controlled attack.
Radiocity is our ten-track epic of travel on various levels. ‘No Thanks’ and
‘Bed Of Rhythm’ are two rock gems in which the addition of female backing
vocals elevate the choruses to epic proportions…choruses that have already
invaded radio playlists the world over... clean hooks, well-played & full of
great energy... we're told this gets a HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Our lyrics are
filled with imagery and their production is crisp and clean.
Those who saw Sharp Practise on our recent tour were very impressed. We are a
cool and inspiring outfit. We are doing the whole rock thing just as we see
and feel it. We aren't just following trends, we're setting our varied stall
out and saying 'hey, we're Sharp Practise, come inside, sit down, relax and
enjoy what we do'.
