Amie Anne Duffy [born on June 23rd 1984 in Gwynedd, Wales], known professionally as Duffy, is a Welsh singer-songwriter of soul music. 'Stepping Stone' is the fourth single from the album 'Rockferry' by Duffy. This was confirmed by Polydor Records in July 2008. The fourth single was initially going to be 'Serious' but was dropped and replaced with 'Stepping Stone' just weeks before the it's release. It was released in September 2008, but had already charted earlier in 2008 due to download sales. In March 2008, the song entered the UK Singles Chart at No.99 because of the release of the album, 'Rockferry'. On August 17th 2008, the song re-entered the chart at No.80 and has so far peaked at No.21. It is unknown if it will be a international single like 'Warwick Avenue' or 'Mercy', but it could just be a UK single like Rockferry.

The video premiered on the August 4th 2008. It has been said that the video is sexier than her previous music videos. It involves Duffy waking up, getting changed and going to a pub.
