Adam Cartwright is wrongly blamed for assaulting two Indian maidens. Appalled, the Paiutes take the eldest Cartwright hostage, and before he has a chance to defend his innocence, an all-out war breaks out between the Native American tribe and the California militia.
This episode of Bonanza was among the most expensive to make for the time – $139,000 when filmed in August 1959. More than 100 actors, portraying Indians, calvary members and extras, were hired. Some impressive stunts for this early episode were also featured.
