Torrent description

Original torrent description:

Weird Nature
A John Downer Production for BBC (2002).
High quality TV rip (XVID)
[Not my cap, found on Usenet]

An astonishing exploration of nature's strangest behaviour. From cartwheeling caterpillars to acrobatic skunks, nature reveals its wondrous, spectacular and undoubtedly bizarre side. In six engrossing episodes, many natural oddities of animal behaviour are explored, interpreted and filmed in exquisite detail. Using a unique presentation that combines elements of drama and special effects to explain each amazing subject, Weird Nature delves deep into the every day lives of living things to reveal that the bizarre is commonplace in the natural world.

The complete series includes the following episodes:

Marvellous Motion
Bizarre Breeding
Fantastic Feeding
Devious Defences
Puzzling Partners
Peculiar Potions

To give you an idea, episode 1 - Marvellous Motions - features Jellyfish, Nautilus, Flame Scallops, Spanish Dancers (Sea Slugs), Seahorse, Spiny Lobsters, Salamander, Pearl Moth Caterpillar, Crocodiles, Jumping Beans (desert moth caterpillar), leaping Lemurs, Bushbaby, Golden Tree Frog, Javan Flying Frog, Wallace Frog, Flying Gecko, Draco Lizard, Golden Tree Snake, Horned Rattlesnake (Sidewinder), Sandswimmer snake, Proboscis Monkey, Collared Lizard and the Roadrunner.

From http://www.timeslicefilms.com/projects/weird_nature.shtml "Yet another award from the Royal Television Society for this ground-breaking sequence. Tim decided to rediscover the work of Jules Marey, French photographer, who pioneered motion analysis with sequential photographic images. Here we did it in 3D with bushbabies, frogs, lizards, fish and snakes (believe me, you do not want to work in the dark with a flying snake !!). We used all the rigs - Josephine, Susan and Insect - to create a multi-dimensional journey around the animals as we study their motion. The Archer Fish sequence was a revelation - we travel 360 degrees around the fish, underwater and over the water, as it shoots a jet of water at a beetle. We used our latest lazer trickery to capture this extraordinary moment."
