Outstanding lute compositions by Vincenzo Galilei who was the father of the famous Galileo Galilei.
Vincenzo Galilei's lute compositions are, IMO, among the best of the Italian sixteenth century. They are usually more complex, more original, more melodious and more *elegantly* composed than the lute compositions by his Italian contemporaries. The interpretation on this disc is superb, though I wish the lutenist's breathing were sometimes a bit less audible, but it's not a big deal really.
