With the exception of his comeback album for Alligator, Strike like Lightning, nothing Mack has done since leaving Fraternity Records has come close to the wham-fisted brilliance of those seminal sides. This LP isnt bad at all, though -- besides passable remakes of Memphis and Why, Mack attacks Frankie Fords Roberta, Ted Taylors Stay Away from My Baby, and Little Willie Johns Let Them Talk with a slightly rockier edge than his previous stuff. RB vet Maxwell Davis did the horn charts.
