The Walking Dead (literalmente Los muertos andantes, y en la edición española Los muertos vivientes) es una serie de historietas estadounidense de periodicidad mensual escrita por Robert Kirkman y dibujada por Tony Moore, reemplazado por Charlie Adlard a partir del número 7. The Walking Dead cuenta las aventuras y desventuras de un grupo de personas tratando de sobrevivir tras un apocalipsis zombi.
Realizada en blanco, negro y grises, excepto las portadas, es publicada originalmente en Estados Unidos por Image Comics desde el año 2003 y en España por Planeta DeAgostini Comics desde junio de 2005 y publicada en Argentina por Ovni Press desde diciembre del 2010. En 2010 fue objeto de una adaptación como serie televisiva por parte de la cadena AMC.
The Walking Dead cuenta cómo Rick Grimmes, un policÃa estadounidense originario de Kentucky despierta de un estado de coma, después de un accidente ocurrido estando de servicio, para encontrarse con un mundo arrasado por cadáveres deseosos de carne fresca y, sin saber qué ha pasado a su alrededor, emprende la búsqueda de su familia. Aunque en realidad la causa de la aparición de los zombies no se revela por completo, dando sólo pequeños chispazos de la misma, la trama permite palpar el desarrollo humano y personal de los personajes y las vÃas para enfrentarse al panorama de persecución, destrucción y muerte provocado por los zombies, a quienes llaman caminantes o exterminadores.
