Sergio is thirty years old and works in a supermarket. Angela is a Spanish girl living in Italy. The child they are expecting is destined to a certain death, but however they decide to keep it.
The nights of torment watching the baby alternate with an investigation into the strange case of suicide of a girl, who is a colleague of Sergio’s. They met each other the evening before the death.
Inspector Sironi approaches gently the couple, looking for the evidences but also trying to understand the human suffering. Doctor Melzi sustains them too, suggesting the transplantation of organs.
At the same time, Angela, who is very religious, silently waits for a miracle, a miracle that took place centuries ago in Calanda, his home town in Aragon.
