DETAILS

advisor.exe – computer diagnostic tool (shows your hardware specs)

AppRemover.exe – helps remove antivirus and security apps (good because the regular uninstall doesn’t usually remove everything)

ATF-Cleaner.exe – simply a tool that removes files from your temp folder, like cookies and temp download files

autoruns.exe – similar to the run command “msconfig” but much more advanced; basically used to turn off programs from running on startup (google it for a full readme)

avenger.exe – a great program to use when needing to delete files; it will delete them before the OS starts so it’s guaranteed to work, however you need to write small scripts to do it. Check out the following link to learn more. http://swandog46.geekstogo.com/avenger2/tutorial.html

BAT File Type.reg – a registry file that fixes a corrupt .bat extension (.bat is a windows batch and some viruses corrupt it)

batfix_vista.reg – essentially the same thing as above; the registry is nearly identical between XP, Vista, and 7

bluescreenview_setup.exe – when your computer gets the BSOD (blue screen of death) it creates a log file. This program is great at making it very readable and understand what caused the bluescreen driver wise

ccsetup225.exe – a tool called CCleaner. Similar to ATF-cleaner but much more advanced and actually needs installing. ATF-cleaner runs straight from an executable

cdhelp.exe – this tool is actually useless it can be deleted sorry

cleanup_tool.exe – helps fix .NET Framework errors. Look up .NET Framework if you don’t know what it is. This tool is used to delete different versions individually or all together

cmdinfo.exe – tool that opens a command prompt and tells you some information about your system

cmdinfo.txt – readme of the different “flags” that you can use with the cmdinfo.exe command

ComboFix.exe – great readme here… http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix

CrucialScan.exe – memory scanner by the manufacturer Crucial. Lets you know the amount and type of memory your currently have installed and recognized (great if you want to upgrade RAM)

CYDE Updater.exe- this tool is actually useless as well it can be deleted sorry

Dial-a-fix.exe – self explanatory once opened but good for fixing windows type errors; only works on XP

dotnetfx_cleanup_tool.zip –this is the zip file with the readme for the earlier .NET Framework cleanup tool

dpclat.exe – checks your DPC latency, which is confusing to explain..just google “DPC latency”

EXE File Type.reg – a lot of viruses like to modify the .exe in the registry so whenever you click an .exe file the virus says you “have a virus” ironic no? this replaces the corrupted registry key with the default one

exefix_vista.reg – again same as above since the registry key is in the same place for all versions of Windows back to XP

exefix_xp.com – some viruses will even disable your .reg extension in which case I renamed this file to .com which should still work

exefix_xp.txt –the readme with the original “.exe” fix

FileExts.reg – a registry key I made to fix all windows extensions to default in the case more than one are corrupt

Firefox Setup 3.6.2.exe – firefox install. Go to Firefox.com for the latest version though

FixWin v 1.2.exe – similar to Dial-A-Fix but that only works with XP. This tool works with Vista and I believe Windows 7 as well

gmer.exe – a good program with multiple purposes. Main purpose is to check for rootkits (modified system files) these can really slow your computer down

HiJackThis.exe – great tool to remove files that normally can’t be seen. It’s only to be used with removal instructions of viruses. If you google the virus and it says to use hijackthis, that is this program here, just follow it exactly

history.txt – history of the .NET Framework tool (also located in the dotnextfx_cleanup_tool.zip)

HitmanPro35.exe – a good virus/adware/malware scanner that is free to use and always updated

HitmanPro35_x64.exe – identical to above but is meant for 64-bit OS

IceSword.exe –meant to look for rootkits as well but I suggest GMER or TDSSkiller over this tool

IconCache.db - this file is created through windows and it holds the information of your icons and how they are displayed, unless your icons look all messed up, this isn’t needed

mbam-clean.exe – sometimes Malware bytes gets corrupted by a virus as well and this is a great tool that removes it completely so it can be installed at a later time without issues

mbam1.46.exe – install for malware bytes and assuming you have the internet it will automatically update to the latest version upon install

mbr.exe – this reads your “master boot record”, google it to find out what It is…this tool creates a log file

MCPR.exe – removes McAfee antivirus

MGADiag.exe – Microsoft Genuine Advantage Diagnostic Tool, tells your if your OS is a legit copy and some other information

msicuu2.exe – Windows Installer Cleanup; ever have a window popup saying trying to install “something” and it requires a CD or some crap, this tool shows a list and if you remove it from that list it won’t bother you anymore popping up; great tool

musicrescuesetup.exe –used for Ipod or Iphone and transferring information; I don’t think this is free though but maybe it works as a trial. http://www.kennettnet.co.uk/products/musicrescue/

Norman_TDSS_Cleaner.exe – helps find and clean up root kits (infected system files)

nortonremove.exe – completely removes everything Norton AV related; very useful tool

Norton_Removal_Tool.exe – older version of the tool above but should still work

procexp.exe – if you have seen Windows Task Manager that’s what this is but it says a LOT more information and has a lot more functionality; fairly simple to use

procexp64.exe – same as above but mean for 64-bit OS

Procmon.exe – similar to procexp.exe but main difference is this tool allows you to create filters/flags and monitor what processes are running and when; good for those pesky viruses attached to only one file

readme.txt - .NET Framework removal tool read me (also located in the dotnextfx_cleanup_tool.zip)

Removal Guide.htm – link to a general removal guide to remove malware/viruses

Remove Fake Antivirus.exe – good for removing rogue AVs which are fake AVs that try and steal your identity; NEVER CLICK “BUY NOW” on an AV menu without googling the name first to see if its legit

revosetup.exe – great program that works like add/remove in windows but much better and easier to use

rkill_latest.exe - got a lot of popups saying your computer is infected and can’t get them off? Run this tool to kill practically everything until you restart your comp; after running this run malwarebytes or hitmanpro or some sort of AV scanner

Rogue Remover.exe - similar to Removefakeantivirus.exe; same basic idea just a different program

rootkit-vb.exe – rootkit detection; not very good and is an older version

RootkitRevealer.exe – same as above; we experimented with a lot of rootkit tools

RootRepeal.exe – and yet another rootkit revealer tool; NOT 64-bit compatible

SASUNINST.EXE –SuperANTISPYWARE removal tool

spell.exe – Outlook spellchecker from 2003-2007 had a problem from Microsoft itself and gets corrupted easily. This is a fix to allow you to have a spellchecker in Outlook again

Spooler.bat – I wrote this myself and it’s for when your printer status shows a file that won’t delete and is stuck in the printer status window

svchostsfix.bat – fixes corrupted Windows Updates; good tool but not needed much

TDSSKiller.exe – so far the best Rootkit removal tool I have used and it’s constantly updated so this isn’t even the latest version; google it to get the latest version

TreeSizeFreeSetup.exe – ever wondered what was in your folder that has 20gb? Well this tool shows all of your folders and the size of them very quickly and easily and from the tool you can delete files

Uninstall IE8 on XP SP3.txt – Internet Explorer 8 on Windows XP SP3 is almost impossible to uninstall but this is a readme that tells you how to do it

Win32kDiag.exe –a small windows diagnostic tool; it won’t hurt anything to run

WinsockxpFix.exe – for windows XP your Winsock which is internet related can have issues after a virus and this tool helps just reset it to try and fix it

WMP won't open.txt- if your windows media player won’t open it could be for multiple reasons; this is on possible fix for that
