In de kleine stad Gracie, New York, zijn Cyd Merriman en Zach Callahan slechts een paar weken verwijderd van het doorhakken van een moeilijke knoop.

Cyd denkt eraan om de dansstudio, die al sinds enige generaties in haar familie is, aan een projectontwikkelaar te verkopen.

Maar Laura Williams, advocaat en vriend van de familie, vertelt haar dat het niet zo eenvoudig is als het lijkt,

want er staat nog een andere naam op de eigendomsakte van de zaak, namelijk die van haar vader.

Plotseling wordt Cyd geconfronteerd met de timmerman Tanner Grey, de vader die ze nooit gekend heeft.

Alhoewel haar vader pas nu opnieuw iets hoort over de akte, heeft hij niet het idee dat het de wens van Cyd is de Merriman Dance Studio te verkopen,

maar verder uit te baten. Zach, aan de andere kant, vindt dat Tanner zich niet moet bemoeien met het bedrijfsleven van zijn verloofde...
