Here is my modified release of Grandia II for the PC. I have worked hard on this for the last couple of months so I hope you guys like it.

THIS IS NOT THE PLACE TO POST ISSUES WITH THE GAME, FOR THAT PLEASE GO TO THE OFFICIAL THREAD. LINK IS AT THE BOTTOM OF THE README.



Grandia2PC v1.1 Readme

This is Grandia II for the PC by Ubisoft. In this release I have made some changes
in an attempt to enhance the players experience. The main changes are re-encoded
in-game FMV\'s, custom launching executable (that fixes several issues), and my own
custom installation package. Please see the full list of changes below:

Note:
To skip the in-game FMV\'s at any time press the F9 key. Pressing the F12 key during
gameplay will return to the title screen (careful, you will lose any unsaved progress).
Press the F12 key at the title screen to exit the game.



Changes:

-ALL of the movies are from the original Dreamcast GDI and have been re-encoded with
the latest Indeo codec to provide the best possible quality. This includes all of the
battle movies which should fix the lag problem during those fancy attacks. (The problem
was supposedly because of too many frames in the video, which should be eliminated).

-Fixed movie display issue. The symptom was different depending on your OS - in XP
the screen would split into 3 sections, on Vista/7 it was just a blank screen.

-Disc label is now \'GRANDIA2DVD\' instead of \'GRANDIA2CD1\'/\'GRANDIA2CD2\'. Only worth
mentioning because I had to hex edit the game executable to make that possible. So
do not change the label name if you want to play the movies from the DVD/ISO.

-Custom launching executable ensures that either the disc is ready to access for media
files, or that they are installed in the program folder - this way no errors because
of missing files can ever occur. It also handles the config file properly, resulting
in the fixing of the movie display issue.

-Compatibility with Windows Vista/7 right out of the box

-Game now fits onto a single DVD instead of 2 CDs

-New installer and autorun

-New icon (thanks acj)

-Pre-cracked executable

-Directx 9.0c included



Known Issues:

-Often times screen flickering issues will occur, either during the FMV\'s or during
regular gameplay. For example: the start orb in Vista/7 might be visable and flicker.
This particular issue was only seen during FMVs, however I have observed other flickering
issues during regular gameplay as well.

-Potential incompatibilites with graphics drivers. On one PC this was tested on I had to
go back to an old driver version for the game to display correctly. The problem was garbage
appearing around sprites. This PC in particular was running Windows XP with a GeForce 6
series card. I ended up installing nVidia driver version 77.72 which worked fine.
(nVidia GeForce Video Driver v77.72 WHQL Cerified.exe)

-Grandia II is known to have issues when FireFox is running and potentially other programs
as well. Issues could vary but I have observed the program attempt to launch, and then
minimize without closing (task changing or clicking the game icon on the task bar will cause
this to happen repeatedly).

-Other issues are expected as this is a game intended to run on Windows 95/98 but should be
minimal when compared to the original release.

-CPU: Pentium II 300 MHz or equivalent
-RAM: 64 MB
-Video Card: 16 MB
-Sound Card: DirectX Compatible
-Drive Space: 804MB
