THE MAN AND THE HOUR

It’s May 1940 in Walmington – on – Sea. On the radio, Anthony Eden announces the formation of the Local Defence Volunteer’s to guard against Nazi invasion. Bank Manager Mr Mainwaring appoints himself Captain and looks for a crack team of men.


MUSEUM PIECE

The unarmed platoon has to wait 6 weeks for their weapons. In the meantime, Mainwaring decides to requisition what equipment he can from a defunct local military museum. But the men don’t bank on a cantankerous old caretaker standing in their way.


COMMAND DECISION

Mainwaring promises his men they’ll have weapons by the end of the week. When Colonel Square offers gun’s in exchange for Captaincy of the platoon. Mainwaring feels obliged to stand down in order to fulfil his promise.
