Michael Holbrook Penniman [born August 18th 1983 in Beirut, Lebanon], known as Mika, is a London-based, Grammy-nominated and BRIT Award-winning singer-songwriter, who has a recording contract with Casablanca Records and Universal Music. He rose to fame at the start of 2007.



'We Are Golden' is the first single from Mika's upcoming second studio album, 'The Boy Who Knew Too Much'. The song was produced and mixed by Greg Wells and features the Andrae Crouch Gospel Choir. The single made its radio airplay debut in the United Kingdom on July 20th 2009, on BBC Radio 2. It was made available for download on August 14th 2009 in Australia and later on September 6th 2009 in the United Kingdom. It was released physically on September 7th 2009, and as of September 13th 2009 is No.4 in the UK Singles Chart. The music video for 'We Are Golden' was shot on July 9th/10th 2009 in Elstree Studios. It was directed by the Swedish film director Jonas Åkerlund. The video premiered on August 4th 2009 in the United Kingdom on Channel 4. The video features Mika dancing around a bedroom in his underwear as a "celebration of all the years Mika spent dancing around his bedroom as a teenager".
