How We Used to Live was an award winning British educational historical television drama. Production began in 1968 at Yorkshire Television studios in Leeds. The series traced the lives and fortunes of various fictional Yorkshire families from the Victorian era until the 1960s, in and around the fictional Yorkshire town of Bradley. (Source Wikipedia)

1962 - Strangers On The Shore

Bradley people are growing accustomed to the presence of West Indian and Asian immigrants living amongst them, especially as they seem willing to take less popular jobs. But there is some racial prejudice born of ignorance, and violence is threatened against Pater for befriending Hanif. Peter almost accuses Roger of having racist feelings. Peter's grandma is worried about being examined by an Indian ear specialist at the hospital. But to Susan, the overwhelming fear is that a Third World War might be sparked off by the Cuban crisis.
