The charity match is a yearly clash, to the honor of Stefano Borgonovo, former Milan and Fiorentina striker.



Before the match started, the biggest moment of the match took place, when Borgonovo himself came on the pitch. The former striker tore up in point of moment, while the crowd was chanting his name loudly and applauded his courage.







Borgonovo, who was born on the 17th of March, 1964, has made 13 appearances for Milan in the late 80s, at Fiorentina, he managed a total of 67 appearances, including one-year loan from AC Milan. His strength and courage in such difficult times is an inspiration to us all.



On September 5, 2008, it was revealed Borgonovo was suffering from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, the same illness that slowly killed Gianluca Signorini, another former Serie A player, in 2002.



To raise funds and awareness of the disease, a testimonial match was organized by Borgonovo's former clubs Fiorentina and Milan. The game, played on October 8, 2008 at Stadio Artemio Franchi, Florence in front of a crowd of 30,000 people, was attended by several former stars of the two clubs. Borgonovo himself attended the match despite his serious condition, with his former teammate Roberto Baggio at his side.On January 22 David Beckham went to visit Borgonovo to his home in Carlo Ancelotti's company.
