THE CONTENDER AUSTRALIA is an unscripted drama about the lives, fears and hopes of 14 professional super middleweight boxers as they compete for the chance to forever change their lives and the lives of the people they love.

Following the great success of the U.S. series of The Contender, the Australian version will follow the boxers as they live, train and compete together for the coveted title of THE CONTENDER AUSTRALIA and the ultimate prize of a fight with Anthony “The Man” Mundine.

Produced by Granada Productions exclusively for FOX8 on Foxtel, the series will follow the challenges these boxers face in their personal lives and career, as well as provide insight to their fears and hopes as they compete for the chance to change their lives forever. The highly stressful, tough competition will test their relationships with each other in and out of the ring.

Charlotte Dawson and Daniel Amalm host the series and work beside mentor Johnny Lewis and team trainers Paul Briggs and Billy Hussein. They will all play a part in guiding the boxers through the most intense training of their careers and the most challenging experience of their lives.

As the boxers battle it out competing against each other in their Contender journey they will all have their eye on the guaranteed fight with Mundine and a $250,000 purse once they step into the ring with him.

Also featured are some of the world’s all time greatest fighters who make an appearance providing inspiration for the boxers throughout their journey.
