As projected here, a thinly-disguised NASA, working with nuclear rockets, is ready for manned flights in the mid-fifties...but Dr. Ralph Harrison doesn't think so, and resigns in protest. Colleague Prof. Nordstrom promptly enlists his aid in developing an alternative robot Spaceman! Naturally, foreign spies are keenly interested... Uses documentary footage of early space research.

l valente dottor Ralph Harrison ha progettato un robot che, comandato da una sorta di traduttore di onde cerebrali, può essere di grande aiuto nella ricerca scientifica e nella sperimentazione dei voli spaziali. Tobor - così è ribattezzato l'automa rileggendo alla rovescia la parola robot - supera ben presto qualsiasi aspettativa mostrandosi adatto per molteplici impieghi e capace di simulare sentimenti ed emozioni umane. Inevitabilmente, Tobor desta l'interesse di una grande potenza rivale degli USA.
