The Autodesk® Lustre® color-grading software is the premier high-performance solution for interactive film or HDTV grading and look creation. Production-proven, Lustre has been used to grade hundreds of movies and television shows worldwide. It provides high-quality, real-time color-grading capabilities for today’s data-centric workflows. Designed to combine the best in performance and creative tools with advanced configurability, Lustre can be adapted to the most demanding facility workflows.
Autodesk Incinerator software uses the latest in high-performance computing cluster technology to significantly increase the real-time performance and interactivity of Lustre systems during digital grading sessions. Based on industry-standard components, Incinerator is intended to provide facilities with better long-term cost and performance benefits, superior upgradeability, and greater modularity and scalability.
Bring Your Vision to Life
The Autodesk Lustre software architecture gives you the tools you need to build a look that establishes your unique vision or sells your client’s ideas with maximum impact. Enhance your content with vivid color. Shape the audience experience using complex selections to isolate parts of the shot you need to draw out and highlight. Develop a streamlined facility workflow that lets you work fast—even under pressure.
Production-Proven Nonlinear Color Grading
Compare multiple shots anywhere in your sequence to enjoy continuity of color and lighting across your entire timeline. Jump between shots quickly and see them side by side in different contexts. With a nonlinear workflow and fast, high-quality image processing pipeline, you have time to do more by experimenting with as many grades and variations as you like.
Produce High-Quality Results in Real Time
Lustre takes advantage of the NVIDIA® graphical processing unit (GPU) to accelerate SD, HD, or 2K grading and deliverables functions. Offering a very attractive price-to-performance balance, Lustre is designed for creativity and interactivity without the need for proprietary hardware. For even greater real-time 2K interactivity during digital grading sessions, Autodesk Incinerator uses CPU clustering to offer an unmatched combination of scalability and performance without the need for proprietary hardware.
Streamlined Concurrent Workflows
Collaboration is the key to building successful businesses and efficient facility workflow. Lustre 2008 is designed to easily shares timelines and media with Autodesk® Smoke® and Autodesk® Flame® software applications Source material can be graded in Lustre 2008 before, during, or after editing and compositing, and then published to the Smoke/Flame clip library.
Key New Features in Autodesk Lustre 2008
Autodesk® Lustre® 2008 software is one of the most widely adopted and production-proven color-grading applications in the world.
Combining the best creative tools, cost-effective GPU-accelerated performance, and efficient workflow, Lustre 2008 gives you real-time tools to explore highly creative color looks for film or video at any point in the post-production process.
Lustre 2008 is available for the Microsoft® Windows® operating system and includes the following new features:
Lustre provides a powerful conform toolset for recreating timelines and handling editorial changes, which, in the DI suite, are a fact of life. The new multilayer Lustre timeline gives colorists the gestural tools they need to make edits quickly and create shot and grade versions; try out multiple looks on a single shot; and apply a look across multiple shots easily.
Automatic Region Tracker
The new region tracker is designed to simplify the process of tracking, so colorists can spend more time on grading. Automatic scaling and rotation of geometries and freehand shapes using the new region tracker feature makes it faster than ever to track elements of the scene. Subpixel precision enables accurate tracking for difficult shots such as shots with noise or grain.
The American Society of Cinematographers' Color Decision List (ASC-CDL) was developed to ensure that images appear the same when displayed on different platforms, leading to a consistency of look across the different stages of post-production—from onset look creation to dailies to final grade. Lustre 2008 allows you to import multiple CDLs, either as slope/offset/power (SOP) values in an EDL, as files referenced in the EDL comments, or by manually entering CDL values, and applying the CDL data on a per-shot basis in the Lustre timeline.
Lustre Color Management
Lustre Color Management helps ensure that everyone across the Autodesk product pipeline is working with and approving images with the same color values. Lustre Color Management is an integrated, out-of-the-box solution built on custom-built lookup tables (LUTs) that perform highly accurate film print stock emulation for the most common film stocks and colorspace conversions for output to formats such as the XYZ colorspace 16-bit TIFF files specified by the Digital Cinema Initiatives (DCI).
Enhanced GPU acceleration of Lustre grading functions now includes support for a number of plug-in effects, including Blur Mix and Print Bleach.
