Sherlock Holmes: Silver Blaze

This was a one-off production by by HTV in 1977, one episode in a series called Classics Dark and Dangerous. At only thirty minutes it's a slimmed-down version of the story, reasonably fast-moving and quite light on dialogue: a deliberate attempt to break away from the old Sunday Classic Serial approach.

For such a small-scale show the casting was starry. This was Christopher Plummer's first appearance as Holmes, a part he would very shortly play again to great acclaim in the movie Murder by Decree.

PLEASE NOTE: the technical quality quality of this is not very good: it's taken from what I think is a second-generation VHS dub. But it is perfectly watchable and might be of interest to Holmes fans. It is something of a rarity.
