The 2002 World Rally Championship season was the 30th season of the Fédération
Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) World Rally Championship (WRC). The
season consisted of 14 rallies. The drivers' world championship was won by
Marcus Grönholm in the Peugeot 206, ahead of Petter Solberg in the Subaru
Impreza.The manufacturers' title was again won by Peugeot.

the total points score of nearest rival Solberg underlines the exceptional
performance of the Gronholm-Peugeot combination.

The year will also be remembered for McRae's incredible victory on the Safari
Rally. It was his 25th WRC win - at the time the highest number ever scored by
a driver - and, tragically, would prove to be his very last World Rally triumph.

This was also the season a new name would appear on the list of WRC winners, when
a young Frenchman named Sebastien Loeb took his maiden victory - the first win
