Starring Michael French, Jenna Russell, James Bolam, Maggie Steed, Clive Swift plus a host of other well known actors and actresses.

Tom and Arthur's relationship deteriorates when Tom is offered a job in New Zealand which Arthur promptly steals. As Tom is heading for the port Phyllis and Deborah discover that Ormston is under threat of demolition for a new road scheme. Len and Linda get their foster child.
Jean and Eddie's wedding doesn't go according to plan and Jean's long-estranged mother Violet turns up, which makes her happy, but her father, Wilf, furious. Tom decides to make amends with his father when he realises how much he misses him.

9. A House Divided
All the villagers come together for the 21st annual Ormston and Thursvale Pub Olympics. The stakes are higher than ever – if they win the grand cash prize of £750, it will go towards Phyllis’s fund to buy the Signalman's Arm back from the brewery.
The strain of the Pub Olympics lands all the participants in hospital, including Catherine, who collapses in pain during the flowerpot race. Donald diagnoses Catherine's stomach pains as appendicitis and has to perform an emergency operation. The rest of the villagers recover in time to take part in the deciding event, the tug-of-war.
Ormston's tug-of-war coach, Daisy Meek, and her husband, Edgar, fall out when Daisy discovers that Edgar is representing Thursvale at chess. Phyllis enjoys playing cupid to Daisy and Edgar while reassuring Eddie and Jean that marriage in the village does not always lead to unhappiness. Eddie and Jean, however, decide not to take any chances and leave Ormston rather than end up a warring married couple.
At the Gilders, Donald delivers an overseas parcel from Arthur. Tom isn’t very pleased that the parcel was sent to Donald and less pleased that his present is Dr Gilder's Book Of Golden Rules.

10. Something Old
Jean and Eddie’s big day has finally arrived, but nothing is going to plan. While an excited Jean is expecting a French chef to prepare her wedding feast, Wilf is buying as many ingredients as he can get his hands on, including a large bag of contaminated flour…
All looks lost when Jean finds Wilf in the kitchen, laboriously studying a cookbook entitled Learn How To Cook French In One Hour. Deborah comes to the rescue and she, Linda and Phyllis make a banquet fit for a king, using the provisions bought byWilf. But when Len, Mr Boynton and Tom start hallucinating, they realise something is amiss and have to destroy the lot.
Then, unexpectedly, Jean’s long-estranged mother, Violet, turns up. But while Jean warms to her, Wilf refuses to attend the wedding if Violet is there – until he discovers she is terminally ill.
Away from the wedding woes, Donald becomes preoccupied with the plight of the newly orphaned Niamh Copper, and Tom finally realises how much he misses his father and decides to make amends.
